What is work in a digital world?

Visuals

I captured a series of images in the Peak District—Hathersage Booths, Owler Tor, and Upper Padley Circular (AllTrails, 2019) - using a Nikon D3400, later refining them in Lightroom (Adobe, n.d.). These images reflect the aesthetics of both Hopecore and Hopelesscore, which share the same visual language of vast landscapes, quiet woodlands, and scenes of solitude.

The imagery conveys a sense of stillness and reflection, using soft light, earthy tones, and natural compositions to create an atmosphere that feels both peaceful and melancholic. Open fields stretch into the horizon, woodland paths wind through dense trees, and streams cut through moss-covered rocks, all evoking a feeling of quiet contemplation. The way light filters through the trees or fades into distant hills reinforces a dreamlike quality, emphasising nature’s beauty and its transient, almost fleeting presence.

Rather than telling a direct narrative, these images invite interpretation—capturing a world that feels untouched yet deeply familiar. Whether seen as hopeful or wistful depends on the viewer, but they all hold the same quiet emotion that defines these aesthetics.
